Dr. Max Hirsh (PhD, Harvard), a leading global expert on airports and urban development, will deliver an inspirational keynote at Realty 2024. The keynote will then be followed by a panel discussion with experts.
The keynote introduces the audience to airport urbanism (AU): a customer-focused approach to developing airport real estate and planning the airport area. Focusing on the needs and desires of the people who live and work in the airport area—and who use the airport on a regular basis—AU advances development strategies that deliver benefits to the airport and to the city that it serves.
In his keynote, Dr. Hirsh will investigate why airport real estate has become a top priority for airports, and why it matters for the future of cities. Next, he will explain the four key drivers that fundamentally determine the success or failure of any airport-led urban development project. International case studies will illustrate global best practices, along with success strategies for mixed-use, transit-oriented development at airports.
The keynote will conclude with a panel discussion of how to apply the AU method in order to leverage near-term, site-specific development opportunities at Brussels Airport.
