Always on the lookout for strategically located buildings offering potential added value after conversion, the developer Atenor has just completed the purchase of the former Brussels headquarters of Nagelmackers, the bank owned by the German investor Deka. Located on Avenue de l’Astronomie in Saint-Josse, on the edge of the Petite Ceinture, the building offers 8,500 m² of office space to be brought up to current market standards. This is the first significant acquisition completed by Sheelam Chadha, the new director of Atenor Belgium.
At the same time, the walls of the new Nagelmackers headquarters, jointly developed by Nextensa and ION in the heart of the European quarter, are already being showcased. They were said to be about to be sold to a French buyer, but the latter, whose interest was cooled by the rapid rise in interest rates, has reportedly thrown in the towel. The project, designed by Archi2000, is one of the first large-scale timber-framed office buildings in Brussels with a particularly high level of circularity (re-use) and a very interesting environmental impact (CO2 neutral). This topic will be one of the main themes of the Realty Forums.
